our friends are pretty cool too

another thing we love about the tetons, the people that live here.  they are passionate about their pursuits, capable of having fun doing anything and do outright amazing things.

this past week, our friend Zach came and stayed with us.  he brought along a few friends with him.  Zach worked last year as a park ranger in Grand Teton National Park.  while he was here, he climbed Moran with David, some other things with his buddies and played at the Hootenanny.
the Hootenanny is a Jackson tradition.  Every Monday at Dornan's, an open mic night happens where Bill Briggs wrangles in some of the valley's most talented musicians.
Zach has played the Hoot many times before and was great this time too.  He is an awesome musician, amazing voice and incredible guitar skills.  check out the little video below(and try to ignore Tom singing. he was filming.)

i am also blessed to know a group of people that will be biking across the country to raise money for multiple sclerosis research.  Sallie Marchant and I grew up together, moved to Jackson together after college and she has stayed in Jackson too.  Last summer we met AnnaMary Richmond and Stephen Romanshek while working at Dornan's.  AnnaMary's father passed away in 2010 after having Muliple Sclerosis for many many years.  As I have come to realize, MS is more common than I expected and affect a lot of people, including myself.  My step-mother was diagnosed with MS recently.  Sallie, AnnaMary and Stephen will be biking from San Diego to Delware beginning in October.  Please visit their facebook page and their website to read up more about what they are doing or even better DONATE!

Wow. That 'shit climbers say' vid had me laughing out loud in the coffee shop. So so so true. Love your posts, friends, bikers, skyrunners, climbs, all of it. Keep it up. MK, glad your knee is OK. David, will be touching base soon.
